Pan's Labyrinth: A Movie Review
Ofelia, daughter of a sick pregnant woman and a Spanish Officer which recently became her stepfather decided to take s journey to arrive at her stepfather’s post. Arriving at the post, the problem soon arises when the conflict between the new government Falangists together with Ofelia’s stepfather and the Rebels began to sparked, leading Ofelia to a mysterious maze, she finds herself talking to a Faun which tells her that she is the reincarnation of a legendary lost princess and tasked Ofelia to complete 3 dangerous tasks in order to achieve immortality.
The movie goes on in a very twisted and dark pattern of events. There is a specific scene where it potentially explains the overall journey of Ofelia in her twisted kind of world that she has, the rose symbolizes her journey to achieve the goal she has been trying to achieve, immortality, although, she was tasked to complete 3 difficult tasks in order to attain immortality, just like the rose with thorns, it would hurt to pick a dangerous and poisonous rose with thorns but it would be a pleasure in the eye to be able to feel it, the rose symbolizes the eternal life or the immortality which seeks of, but the exchange shall be difficult, like the thorns in the rose.
As for my personal opinion and reflection about the movie, it may seem to come off as a little too dark for some to understand deeper, the real concept of the story. I focused more on the concept in which there is an oppression to the rebels that are against the Falangists, supporting the new government of Spain. The main character is psychologically troubled and saw experienced the war in her own eyes. This movie showcase a similar problem in the society today that we have and is portrayed to a film which depicts a brutal war drama and a beautiful mix of fantasy. This is an absolutely gorgeous and fruitful movie that works as both a dark fairy tale and as a harrowing depiction of the Spanish Civil War.

The movie review was well written. The way she told the short summary does not spoil the readers but makes them more curious, and in some way gives them a strong urge to watch the movie. The symbolisms given and explained were also interesting since the writer connected in to real life. All in all, the movie review was written well and I strongly suggest to the writer to write more for her to discover new things and techniques which will help her in improving her blog.
